Hi
What about new Fabs in various countries making several billions OpenRISC each year? What about other metals such as copper, silver etc?
Making CPUs on the countries that produce the metal is more efficient and profitable than exporting the raw materials. As an example if South Africa / Australia export the CPU, it will get more income that exporting gold / silver etc. This may reduce trade deficit in the above countries.
>Linux will not increase the sales of PC
In several developing countries, they cann't afford the MS Windows, therefore they use Pirated OS + applications. With Linux, vendors can sell PC with legitimate OS + shareware LINUX applications.
OpenRISC may lower the price of computers in developing countries, compared to X86: (ie Simputer project).
>Lots of cheap embedded CPU.
Perhaps in USA / Europe, but in Asia, Africa, the embedded CPU is still too expensive for ordinary applications such as automotives, home appliances etc. At least OpenRISC may lower the price of the products.
