In my opinion this has something to do with controlling the PHY. And I think
it's necessary to know if PHY works in full duplex mode or not. So I say: "Yes
we need MII management!".

BTW: I think station addresses are part of LLC layer. But MII is the interface
between PHY and MAC. So what's the point I missed?
