[mu TECH] Bootscripts

Hello out there,

I just installed muLinux on my two small machines (a 386 with 4 MB RAM and
a 486 with 4-16 MB RAM). If the 386 will run to my satisfaction, I will
tell you my experience with it (like installing, tuning etc.)
On both machines runs a cloned muLinux. The first question is about the
boot-up scripts:

In the /setup/rc/ files, I have already removed all I could out of the
script 4 and 5. In 4 I commented out:
- emergency
- startup
- special
- addons
- setup

and I purged the unneeded modules/addons from /setup/model/custom

But, what do these scripts - especially those setup-scripts - actually do?
They seem to make sure, that the addons are copied / linked to the right
place, but some do more like the lang - module. It also executes loadkeys
and even loads a module.

So, my question is: What part of the scripts is related to the installation
process (like copying files etc.) and what parts are needed, every time I
boot a cloned system? And what do they do? Part of the commands seem to be
in the /usr/ADDON/bin/prolog files.

My aim is to have small, fast startup-scripts without all the "clutter".
I have to say, that You have done a great job in scripting. But on a 386,
the full setup process (setup -a custom) takes too long to be performed
every time.

Thank You,

JanP
