Please, please: try that for me: 1) go in maintencance mode 2) mount
the disk 3) locate the directory contaning the fdformat command
4) try to run it by hand.
Exactly in that Linux users differs from Window users: the WU likes
to know the solution; the LU likes to discover by itself. The steps 1-4
are what I *usually* do when got problems.
P.S.: a warning
If your mental disposition will remains in the WU domain, you will not
benefit installing a such thing as muLinux
