# combgames-symbols

Version 1.0, 2026-10-28.

Symbols and braces-and-slashes notation for combinatorial game theory.
Load with `\usepackage{combgames-symbols}`. The board package is not needed.

For use in a document folder or Overleaf project, copy the .sty file and:
- pdfLaTeX: the .tfm, .map, .enc and .pfb files;
- XeLaTeX or LuaLaTeX: the .otf file.

All these files have basename combgames-symbols. The pdfLaTeX map is loaded
automatically. Dependencies: iftex, expl3, xparse, amsmath, amssymb;
fontspec is also used with XeLaTeX and LuaLaTeX.

See combgames-symbols-doc.pdf for the command reference. Compile its .tex
source with pdfLaTeX twice to rebuild the manual.

To rebuild the fonts, run in a working copy of this directory:

mpost -interaction=nonstopmode -halt-on-error combgames-symbols.mp
fontforge -lang=py -script combgames-symbols-build.py
```

The second command requires FontForge's Python module and otftotfm on PATH.
On Windows, `ffpython.exe combgames-symbols-build.py` is an alternative.
The script writes the .otf, .pfb, .tfm and .map files using the supplied
encoding. SVGs, automatic encodings and the -metrics.otf file are build
intermediates, not installation files. The MetaPost source was formerly
named combgames.mp in the development version; it has been renamed to
distinguish this adaptation from the original work.
