PDS_VERSION_ID = PDS3 RECORD_TYPE = STREAM OBJECT = TEXT INTERCHANGE_FORMAT = ASCII PUBLICATION_DATE = 2008-02-28 NOTE = "FRAMES Kernel Information" END_OBJECT = TEXT END General information about SPICE FRAMES kernels ============================================== In the SPICE system, the FRAMES kernel (FK) contains information required to define reference frames used in a particular mission. This information includes sources of orientation and origin location for these frames and inter-connections between these frames and other frames supported within the SPICE system. The frame definitions information contained in the FK files can be used by a collection of subroutines that are part of the SPICELIB library, the major component of the NAIF Toolkit. These subroutines can be integrated into user application programs. Information about obtaining the SPICE Toolkit is located in the "software" subdirectory of the main directory of this dataset. Refer to the Frames Required Reading (frames.req) document provided with the toolkit or available from the NAIF Node of the PDS, to get more information on how to access FK data. New Horizons FRAMES Kernels Contained in This Directory ====================================================== The following Frames Kernel files are included on this volume (only name portion of the file name is shown on the right; the extension of all file names is ".tf"): nh_vNNN The New Horizons Frames kernel files containing frame definitions for the spacecraft and its instrumentation. New Horizons FK File Naming Scheme ================================= The New Horizons FKs provided on this volume are named according to the following scheme: nh_vNNN.tf where: vNNN is the file version number; If multiple versions of an FK file are provided, always use the latest version (unless an earlier version is needed for some special reasons.) Kernel File Details =================== The most detailed description of the data in an FK file is provided in metadata included inside the descriptive text area of the file. This information can be viewed using any text editor.
